A (brokenhearted) physicist.

Now an infamous (who is LITERALLY EVERYWHERE!! UGH!) musician.

The worst has already happened. 

Mona has learned that she has nothing figured out and plans are meaningless. After leaving her in Aspen, Abram is now breaking sales-records, rising to rock star fame almost overnight. Mona can’t seem to escape him. He is literally everywhere, or at least images of him are. 

Just when she thinks things can't get any more confusing, Abram returns... What happens next? Only TIME will tell.

I can't believe it's over! 

This novella is the most painful to wait for compared to the second one, because the cliffhanger in SPACE was a bit brutal. 

"It's living artistry, Mona. Being with you is like living in a song."

My babies Abram and Mona are struggling with long-distance relationship in this one. Mona has her Physics work in Europe while Abram is doing a US tour with his band, there are a lot of frustration of not being able to physical be where each other are, a lot of frustration about having to spend a lot of time apart. Being a sucker for angst, I'm totally for all the yearning (especially Abram's--the boy could yearn) in this book; TIME has it in spades. I love the way Abram's completely gone for Mona. He basically worships the ground she walks on and I love smitten heroes.

Honestly, I think TIME would stand better if it wasn't a novella. The fact that I enjoyed reading it notwithstanding, I do feel like it's the weakest out of all three. The three novellas in this series will be released as one book eventually, so I feel like TIME would work better if we had a seamless flow from SPACE, instead of having to wait a month in between.

Overall, I do love the journey of Abram and Mona learning each other and learning how to be together. We have a KITC gang cameos because Marie from KITC is Abram's sister and we get a Marie x Matt wedding glimpse in this (!!!!). And the sneak peek to Beard with Me killed me off.

This post was supposed to go live yesterday but there had been so much going on that I forgot, eep. 

But anyhoozle, SPACE! 

Where do I start?

"You want to...listen to my heartbeat? That's what you want?"

I basically dived into the book immediately after the ARC dropped in my Kindle because you guys, the cliffhanger in MOTION was brutal, okay.

SPACE was set 2 years after the events in MOTION. Mona DaVinci was making a name for herself in the Physics field, lots of things to do and places to go, but she never truly forgot the week she had with Abram Harris, or her feelings for him. Mona and Abram reunited when she went to her parents' vacation place in Aspen and got snowed in with her brother's friends.

I can't believe Penny gave us a snowed-in trope. 

While MOTION took me a while to get into, it was a smooth-sailing journey with SPACE. I'm happy that we got Abram's POV in this; while it wasn't really needed in MOTION, it added value to the story here. I quite enjoyed being in Abram's head because he's one moody mofo and I love his angsty butt. He was so angry with Mona for deceiving him (yea, man was smart he figured it out), and there were some tense situations (which I totally lived for) and poetry (Drew Runous would have been proud).

I can't continue anymore without spoiling this story but SPACE totally beats MOTION for me. There were a lot of moments between Mona and Abram that I highlighted and bookmarked. We even had Kaitlyn and Martin cameos in this one! Also, the cliffhanger was a little bit bearable here than the first one too. 

TIME next! Now I'm sad that it's almost over.

I was intrigued by him when first met him in Elements of Chemistry, especially when he dared go and poke the grumpy Martin Sandeke. Pretty excited when I heard Penny was going to write his book, and when it was revealed that he was Marie's (from Penny's Knitting in the City series) little brother. Talk about a crossover! 

The beginning of the story was a little bit rough for me because I wasn't really sure what to feel about Mona. I was charmed by Kaitlyn (Elements of Chemistry) right away while it took me longer to warm up to Mona. She was a girl genius being roped into impersonating her identical twin sister Lisa for a week, and I didn't know how to feel about this until I got further into the story--when Mona had to pretend to be Lisa while staying with Abram, and found herself catching feelings for him, and him for her. 

"Was he falling for me? Or my sister?"

That just fueled my need for angst. Every time Mona thought about the hopelessness of her situation, my heart broke for her. By the end of MOTION, I could confidently say that I love Mona, her Physics jokes and her quirky sayings. I just want to protect her from all types of heartbreaks. 

I feel like we haven't learned enough about Abram in MOTION, but what we did learn (a little bit of his backstory, his passion for music, how he feels a little too much), I like. Side note: there is a little discussion about romance books in this story because Abram is a romance reader (!!!). He defended the genre to skeptical Mona and even recommended her Lisa Kleypas. His favourite LKs were Devil in Winter and Love in the Afternoon! I love that man. 

The cliffhanger was a brutal one, but Penny did warn us about it multiple times. Luckily we don't have to wait that long for the next book (which will also have a cliffhanger... *dies*)

Hi, everyone!

How is August treating you so far? I’m currently in the first stage of writing my thesis—I’m going to finish my Master’s degree on time even if it kills me. Boring stuff aside, let me just express how truly excited I am that Nick, Eri, and I are now co-blogging together. If all goes well, I hope to be posting something new every Thursday (and yes I know it’s Saturday today; baby steps and whatnot), mostly updates on my reading and/or mini-reviews. I’ve always planned to blog consistently; fingers crossed I’ll be able to do that on our spanking new blog. 

When I picked the books to talk about in this week’s post, I noticed that they had one thing in common: they all have the ‘older heroine, younger hero’ trope, or what you call “cougar romance”. I have a thing for big age difference in romance, but I admit I don’t read many books that featured older heroines. It’s definitely something I’m planning to rectify.

Anyway, onwards!
