Big city K-9 cop Ronan McGuire loves women, loves his dog, loves his job - but when old flame Maddy Morgan moves into his jurisdiction, he can’t think about anyone else.

Ronan knows she’s way out of his league, but he’s determined to help Maddy live life to the fullest.

Maddy has immersed herself in work and swiftly made a name for herself in the hot New York City real estate market. She’s looking for safety, not love, but Ronan McGuire is as persistent as he is sexy, and his crooked smile is hard to resist. But all other concerns are wiped away when Maddy goes missing and Ronan and his bloodhound K-9 partner are tasked with finding her and bringing her home.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I picked up Trouble Walks In because of the man-candy on that cover. I can be impulsive like that and a lot of times that can backfire, but not this time around. I found this book to be very reminiscent of one of my favorite books by Lauren Layne, with the NYC setting and Ronan being a cop. It was a sweet and romantic read.

I don't know what it is about cops in book, but I find them very attractive. And Ronan was the whole package. He was devoted to his work, hardworking and very passionate. Not to mention he had a bloodhound as a partner whom he loved with every fiber of his being. He was a really sweet and sexy guy, the kind of guy I love reading about in romance novels. Maddy, the heroine, was a fantastic  heroine as well. She had just moved to New York to get away from the grief of having lost her long-time boyfriend in a fire. She, like Ronan, was hardworking and very passionate about her job as a real estate agent. She was very lonely however and even though she was fiercely attracted to Ronan and his thoughtfulness, she was hesitant to give away her heart a second time.

The chemistry between the two was strong throughout the book and I loved the scenes of them talking to each other even more. I loved watching them slowly fall for each other and connect on an emotional level. They fit so well together and definitely the kind of couple you know will stay with each other forever. I also really liked Ronan's big family. They were very welcoming of Maddy and I loved how much they cared for her. Ronan's brothers, especially, were a riot and made me laugh with their bromance. And then there's Maddy's awesome best friend who was supportive and kind and just the perfect girl someone needs as a BFF. Trouble Walks In wasn't all romance! It also had a mystery storyline throughout with acquaintances of Maddy being killed around NYC. It was predictable, but the author knew how to keep the mystery suspensful and engaging. Just don't go into the book expecting a twisty suspense book though because this is primarily a romance.

Trouble Walks In was a quick and addicting read. This was my first book by Sara Humphreys, but I will most definitely be coming back for more. I like her writing and her characters a lot!
