Can't-Wait Wednesday (2): Archangel's Prophecy by Nalini Singh

Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Tressa at Wishful Endings to spotlight and discuss the yet-to-be released books we're excited to read. It is based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

Hey guys!

I'm here again to share with you another book that I'm willing to offer my future seventhborn (since my future first- until sixth- babies are all booked) for the chance to read it now now now

Return to New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh’s darkly passionate Guild Hunter world, where human-turned-angel Elena Deveraux, consort to Archangel Raphael, is thrust center stage into an eons-old prophecy....

Midnight and dawn, Elena’s wings are unique among angelkind…and now they’re failing. The first mortal to be turned into an immortal in angelic memory, she’s regressing. Becoming more and more human. Easier to hurt. Easier to kill.

Elena and Raphael must unearth the reason for the regression before it’s too late and Elena falls out of the sky. Yet even as they fight a furious battle for Elena’s very survival, violent forces are gathering in New York and across the world.

In China, the Archangel Favashi is showing the first signs of madness. In New York, a mysterious sinkhole filled with lava swallows a man whole. In Africa, torrential monsoon rains flood rolling deserts. And in Elena’s mind whispers a haunting voice that isn’t her own.

This time, survival may not be possible…not even for the consort of an archangel.

UGH I'm so impatient for this book! Still a bit sad that my Wish on Netgalley doesn't seem to have any chance of being granted (I mean I know the function's kaput so I shouldn't be as disappointed but still).

Anyway, Elena and Raphael are one of my favourite couples and I'm ready to be reunited with them again. They're both so fiercely protective over each other, they command respect every time they enter a room, and they're each other's strength and weakness. They are truly that power couple. Also, the blurb gave me chills. Elena's a baby immortal and now she's regressing??? What is happening??? And oh my god, what is going on with Favashi???

Believe it or not, I've been consistently reading Nalini Singh since the beginning of the year and I have zero regrets. I mentioned in my Sunday Update that I'm in the middle of binge-reading Psy-Changeling, and currently I'm on Tangle of Need. Riaz and Adria are truly giving me all the feels right now.

Lisa's Sunday Update (1).

Hi, guys!

Gosh, it's been a while since I last did a real update. I've been doing nothing worth mentioning since I graduated (sad). I even had a touch of reading slump that really bummed me out. I did go to Singapore the last weekend of July, though. It's only a 50 min flight from home, and I missed Nick who was just there by, like, two weeks or so?

So. Frustrating.

Anyway, I've seen Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again twice in the movies and I'm proud to say that I'm a Lily James fan now. She was amazing in Mamma Mia! I love her singing voice. Because I'm a new fan, I decided to watch The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society because it was on Netflix and she was in it. I haven't read the book but guys, the movie was AMAZING, and I'm pretty much in love with Michiel Huisman (who is married???? wow all the men I want are unavailable) after that. Because of my love for him, I decided to watch Irreplaceable You, which was not a romance because it was a cancer movie and you knew it didn't have a happy ending from the start, but I still love it a lot because it was surprisingly lighthearted while dealing with death. Gugu Mbatha-Raw was amazing in it, I was utterly charmed by her.

And of course, I saw To All the Boys I've Loved Before and I adored it a lot. I sat down with my sisters and we watched it together. It's not without problems, but overall it's still a pretty decent adaptation and I hope its hype will prompt more book adaptations soon!

Reading-wise, I have been binge-reading the Psy-Changeling books for August and guys, I'm so in love with this world and characters. I was just about dying for Archangel's Prophecy, the upcoming new book in Nalini's Guild Hunter series, and Psy-Changeling works to assuage that need a bit. I'm going to do a big review for all the books once I finish the series. There are a lot of books in this series, I'm thriving!

I also read these ARCs that I will probably do mini reviews for in the near future:

Hope you're having a great Sunday!

Cris' Favorite Books of 2018 (so far...)

Hey guys! I didn't post last week, sorry, but life was a bit hectic. However, this week, I thought I would show you my 11 favorites of this year so far.

I'm going for books I've READ this year, and not books that have come out this year, otherwise I would need to leave out books I loved and I don't want that.

"I would love you forever, if I only had the chance..."
Kacey Dawson has always lived life on the edge--impulsively, sometimes recklessly. And now, as lead guitarist for a hot up-and-coming band, she is poised at the brink of fame and fortune. But she is torn between wanting to be a serious musician, and the demons that lure her down the glittering, but alcohol-soaked path of rock stardom. A wrecked concert in Las Vegas threatens to ruin her career entirely. She wakes up with the hangover from hell and no memory of the night before, or how she ended up on her limo driver’s couch...
Jonah Fletcher is running out of time. He knows his situation is hopeless, and he's vowed to make the most of the handful of months he has left to him. His plans include seeing the opening of his glass installation at a prestigious art gallery…they do not include falling in love with a wild, tempestuous rock musician who wound up passed out on his couch.
Jonah sees that Kacey is on a path to self-destruction. He lets her crash with him for a few days to dry out and get her head on straight. But neither of them expected the deep connection they felt, or how that connection could grow so fast from friendship into something more. Something deep and pure and life-changing…something as fragile as glass, that they both know will shatter in the end no matter how hard they try to hold on to it.
Full Tilt is a story about what it means to love with your whole heart, to sacrifice, to experience terrible grief and soaring joy. To live life with all its beauty, and all its pain, and in the end to be able to smile through tears and know you wouldn’t have changed a thing.

The third?

Hey guys!

Wow, I've been so bad at blogging lately. I talked to Nick about my blogger's block and she suggested I find blogging memes so here we are.

Today I'm sharing with you a book (yep, just one, because I am the epitome of restraint) in my TBR that I'm excited about.

Enemies make the worst neighbors, but the best lovers

After losing her job, her home, and her friends in her divorce, Nora Pitts is determined not to make the same mistakes when she starts over in the small town of Shadow Creek, Washington. No more slaving away in the lab at the expense of her social life, and definitely no more men. Ever. But making friends in her thirties is so much harder than she anticipated. And when it comes to her gorgeous yet obnoxious neighbor, it’s a whole lot easier to make enemies.

Eli Hardin doesn’t have a lot of sympathy for his uptight neighbor, until he overhears her so-called new friends making fun of her un-datable status. Suddenly he finds himself volunteering for a date with a woman who’s been leaving angry hate-notes in his mailbox, and in way over his head. Because all it takes is one disastrous date with Nora for Eli to fall hard.

But falling for Eli isn’t something Nora’s ready for—not when he’s her complete opposite, and especially not when he turns out to be the best friend she’s made in Shadow Creek. But as her attraction and her feelings for Eli grow hotter, resisting him might just lead to heartbreak anyway.

Doesn't the blurb sound good? And look at that gorgeous cover!

I've been waiting for Eli's book ever since I read the excerpt at the end of Real Kind of Love; if you haven't read that one, then this is your cue! This book is coming out 4 days after my birthday and lucky me, I don't have to wait that long because I have the ARC (!!!!).

Lawyers, Wedding-Planners & Playboys

Hello friends!

Happy Tuesday! I hope you're having good weeks so far. I'm still home vacationing and reading a lot of romances.

I've been having some good luck with the books I've read in the past two weeks and I'll share some of the covers at the end of this post. But today's primary focus is on a lawyer romance and an office romance! Both were only so-so reads for me, but I'm sure some of you might be interested in them.

DOWN WITH LOVE
by Kate Meader
Series: Laws of Attraction #1
Genres: Contemporary
Publisher: Loveswept
Publication Date: August 7th 2018
Source: ARC received for review purposes
Rating: ★★

As a fan of Kate Meader and lawyers in romance novels, I was eager to pick up Down With Love. It sounded like it would be a sexy and fun rom-com. I don't know what it was about the book, but it didn't entirely woo me as I was hoping it would. At the center of Down With Love, we have Max Henderson, a cynical lawyer when it comes to romance and marriage. He doesn't believe in love and doesn't think it's for him. When his brother announces that he is getting married, he is forced to feign happiness and do everything he can to make sure the wedding planner isn't ripping them off. Said wedding planner is Charlie Love, who hasn't had the best experience in the love department, but who has hopes of finding the right guy. As you can imagine, these two clash upon their first meeting, but they also find themselves attracted to each other. I found the banter between them to be enjoyable and I found myself grinning from time to time. However, after some time, I got tired of the back-and-forth between them and I just wasn't feeling their romance all that much. I felt like it was lacking in something that I can't exactly pinpoint. When they did get together, I found the romance was a bit cheesy and unoriginal. That being said, I enjoyed the secondary characters, especially Max' co-workers, and I'm looking forward to reading future books. Down With Love is not my favorite Kate Meader book,  but I would still recommend it for readers who have enjoyed her books in the past.

Unfortunately, after one chance encounter, Simone keeps popping up everywhere he happens to be...

She’d also like some answers from her former best friend about why he ghosted her, but if she never gets those answers, that’s a-okay. Simone let go of the past a long time ago. Seriously, she has. She totally, totally has. She is definitely not still thinking about Roscoe. Nope. She’s more than happy to forget he exists.
