A Short Thursday Update

Hey, everybody!

Gosh, this week just flies by so fast. My sister is getting married this Sunday, so it's been a bit more hectic than usual in our household with the last minute preparations and whatnot. Planning a wedding is no joke, 0/10 not recommended.

I didn't get to read much this week because I've been too busy, so for today's post I'll be adapting a WWW concept since it's the simplest, haha.

I reread Love in the Afternoon by Lisa Kleypas for the umpteenth time this week. The Hathaways series is one of the historical romance series that I love and reread constantly. If you haven't read this series then what are you doing with your life????, it's about the youngest Hathaway sister, Beatrix, and Christopher Phelan, her neighbour and a soldier. It all started with letters of companionship between them, and soon the words turned into heartbeats on the page something more, but there was one little snag: Christopher thought he was writing to Prudence, Beatrix's friend who he planned to marry when he returned from war.

This book is one of my comfort reads. It's emotional, sexy, and filled with amazing cast of characters so you can expect great banter as well. I love how I feel whenever I finish reading this book.

I read too many books at the same time to mention here but right now one that totally has its hooks on me is The Cowboy and the Kid by Anne McAllister. It has a single dad cowboy hero and a middle school teacher heroine, and one persistent matchmaking kid who just wants her father to have someone and be happy.

Bonus: it's still free on Amazon

So many good books to read, so little time, but I'm focusing on these three titles next
(all of them come out on March 27th!)

Her Perfect Affair by Priscilla Oliveras
Hurts to Love You by Alisha Rai

After four failed seasons and a disastrous jilting, Lady Dorothea Beaumont has had more than enough of her family’s scheming. She won’t domesticate a duke, entangle an earl, or vie for a viscount. She will quietly exit to her aunt’s Irish estate for a life of blissful freedom. Until an arrogant, sinfully handsome duke singles her out for a waltz, making Thea the most popular belle of the season.

The duke ruined her plans and he’ll just have to fix them.

Dalton, Duke of Osborne, is far too heartless for debutantes or marriage—he uses dalliances and public spectacle to distract from his real purpose: finding the man who destroyed his family. When his search leads to Ireland, the last thing he needs is the determined, achingly innocent Thea, who arrives in the dead of night demanding he escort her to her aunt. His foolish agreement may prove his undoing. The road to the Emerald Isle is fraught with unforeseen dangers, but the greatest peril of all might just be discovering that he has a heart...and he’s losing it to Thea.

Week in Review #10

Hi everyone!

I hope you all had excellent weeks. It was another busy week for me with shopping, packing and weddings. I'm starting to feel sad that this is going to be my last week at home with my family. I won't be able to return home until at least next December and I don't know how to handle that. I am looking forward to spending the rest of the month with them while traveling though.

This will also probably be my last week in review for a while. These posts don't take me a long time to write up, but I'm not sure what my WiFi situation is going to be like. I will have posts scheduled for the whole time I'm gone, so please stop by if you have some time. Once I'm all settled in, I'll return all your comments.

Review: How the Duke Was Won by Lenora Bell

HOW THE DUKE WAS WON

Series: The Disgraceful Dukes #1
Genres: Historical
Publisher: Avon Books
Publication Date: April 26th 2016

Rating: ★★
Amazon - Barnes & Noble

The pleasure of your company is requested at Warbury Park. Four lovely ladies will arrive… but only one can become a duchess.

James, the scandalously uncivilized Duke of Harland, requires a bride with a spotless reputation for a strictly business arrangement. Lust is prohibited and love is out of the question.

Four ladies. Three days. What could go wrong?

She is not like the others…

Charlene Beckett, the unacknowledged daughter of an earl and a courtesan, has just been offered a life-altering fortune to pose as her half-sister, Lady Dorothea, and win the duke’s proposal. All she must do is:

* Be the perfect English rose [Ha!]

* Breathe, smile, and curtsy in impossibly tight gowns [blast Lady Dorothea’s sylph-like figure]

* Charm and seduce a wild duke [without appearing to try]

* Keep said duke far, far from her heart [no matter how tempting]

When secrets are revealed and passion overwhelms, James must decide if the last lady he should want is really everything he needs. And Charlene must decide if the promise of a new life is worth risking everything . . . including her heart.

Week In Review #1

Hello friends!

I wanted to start doing mini weekly recaps on this blog, so that I can share more of my weekly review links, but also tell you a bit about the books I've been reading. Sometimes, I don't get the chance to review every book that I snag, and being the book-pusher that I am, I don't really want to miss talking about some books. Anyways, let's get started!
