My Month in Books (so far)

Today I'm gonna talk about some of the books I've read lately :), because I've read some amazing ones, and I want to share them.

Secrets of a Summer Night by Lisa Kleypas [«««««]

Yes, I did it, I read my second historical romance and I loved it. Lisa and Nick were right, and I definitely trust their opinions and recommendations.

I listened to this on audiobook, and it was the best decision ever. I loved the narrator, and I found that I really like historical and 3rd person on audio. The writing helped, of course, this book was funny and romantic, and so so great.

Loved the romance, and the friendships, and the storyline. The character growth was amazing too. I can't wait to get my hands on the other books in this series, and I'll want the audio version of those as well.

Getting Schooled by Emma Chase [«««««]

This is one of my favorite stories of this year. And I'm so happy that this one is included in the Romance Package on Audible, because I loved loved loved the narration, Andi Arndt is always spectacular, but Zachary Webber was the perfect Garrett.

This is a second chance romance, and I really liked the lack of conflict. Garrett and Callie were perfect and a match made in heaven. They complement each other so well, and I love a good story of first love, and real love, and that's what this book was. Two amazing people finding their way back to each other, and solving misunderstanding and being amazing.

Two Wedding Crashers by Meghan Quinn [«««««]

Another amazing read. Meghan Quinn is definitly amazing, and her books are always hilarious. You have read her books, right? You better have... Moving on, she's hilarious, and this one was no exception. I liked this book way better than her first book in the series - it had the serious advantage of only having 1 love interest, so...

This is a "summer fling" turned more, and the characters are fantastic. I wasn't expecting to like the hero as much as I did, but OMG, he was great. And the chemistry was off the charts. I also really liked that serious subjects have place in the book and in the romance. I liked that they were addressed and made part of the plot.

The Hook-Up Experiment by Emma Hart [«««««]

Emma Hart is a bit a hit or miss for me, but she writes some amazing single dads, and that is one of my favorite things in romances... *sigh*.

This is a mix of a lot of tropes, and it's very well done. We have a second chance romance, also a bit of enemies to lovers, casual to more, and a sexy single dad for whom his little girl is the center of his universe.

The book is hilarious, and the characters are fantastic and complex. I especially loved Peyton, and I have to say something about Emma Hart's books. She always highlights the girls on the covers, instead of the men. For some reason I find this amazing, maybe because it's not that common.

A Short Thursday Update

Hey, everybody!

Gosh, this week just flies by so fast. My sister is getting married this Sunday, so it's been a bit more hectic than usual in our household with the last minute preparations and whatnot. Planning a wedding is no joke, 0/10 not recommended.

I didn't get to read much this week because I've been too busy, so for today's post I'll be adapting a WWW concept since it's the simplest, haha. 

I reread Love in the Afternoon by Lisa Kleypas for the umpteenth time this week. The Hathaways series is one of the historical romance series that I love and reread constantly. If you haven't read this series then what are you doing with your life????, it's about the youngest Hathaway sister, Beatrix, and Christopher Phelan, her neighbour and a soldier. It all started with letters of companionship between them, and soon the words turned into heartbeats on the page something more, but there was one little snag: Christopher thought he was writing to Prudence, Beatrix's friend who he planned to marry when he returned from war. 

This book is one of my comfort reads. It's emotional, sexy, and filled with amazing cast of characters so you can expect great banter as well. I love how I feel whenever I finish reading this book. 

I read too many books at the same time to mention here but right now one that totally has its hooks on me is The Cowboy and the Kid by Anne McAllister. It has a single dad cowboy hero and a middle school teacher heroine, and one persistent matchmaking kid who just wants her father to have someone and be happy.

So many good books to read, so little time, but I'm focusing on these three titles next

Hello, everyone! How is your reading this week?

Honestly, I’m having a blah week. Academic-wise, I need to submit the complete draft of my Master’s thesis to my supervisor in a week, and wrapping up my writing is the single, most hardest thing to do right now.

Boring stuff aside, I finally created a shelf for single parents on my Goodreads, and because I love multiple shelves, I decided to split them into separate shelves for single mothers and single fathers. I’m also reorganizing books in my age gap shelf. For some reason, I’ve been shelving books with minimum age difference of five years and above into that shelf, and I now realized that it didn’t really make sense; five years aren’t that big of a gap, right?

On a bookish-related note, the first book in one of my all-time favourite series, the All Souls trilogy, is getting a TV adaptation! I thought I was over books with vampires in them, but then I got hooked on A Discovery of Witches and proved myself wrong. The author, Deborah Harkness, announced on Monday that the main characters Diana Bishop and Matthew Clairmont will be played by Teresa Palmer and Matthew Goode. 

Granted, they aren’t how I pictured Diana and Matthew, but I’m excited nonetheless. Now onwards for some mini reviews!

Week in Review #5

Hi friends

I hope everyone is doing okay. Before I get to my review, I just wanted to say, in the midst of all this senseless violence, death and hatred, please take care of yourself and your loved ones. Too much is going on  in this world and I know it looks bleak but we have to believe that love will eventually win and fight for it.

I had a reading list all planned for this week, but I wasn't in the mood for any of the titles I picked up, so I ended up just reading whatever I felt like at the time. I also took a visit to the library next door and stocked up on some historical romance novels. Here is my recap:
